Chapter Four
KAPPA
Keeping my dad and brother out of the loop had been the hardest shit ever to do while still trying to act like everything was cool with me. When Dr. Okema laid the news on me that I was indeed diagnosed with Stage 2 prostate cancer and she recommended we start chemotherapy sooner rather than later. Although I trusted her judgment, I asked her for time to weigh my options because I was sure that chemo was going to have a nigga down badly. Plus, I needed time to find a fill-in for my operation until I was fully back on my feet. Breaking the news to Rho was probably going to be the hardest part of it all.
Even though Rho was younger than me, she swore she was my protector and I knew that telling her I had cancer would break her heart. She was a true Cancer and was emotional as fuck. That was something that I couldnât deal with right now in my current state. Hell, I was still trying to wrap my head around the fact that a nigga had cancer. Iâd been shot, stabbed and even been through a round of Covid and to have something like cancer try to take me down was a shot at my mental foâ real.
Walking into my office, I took a seat behind my desk and moved my mouse around to wake up my screen. Going into my camera files, I pulled up the footage from the trap house cameras we had Rho to go install and I began watching the feeds. Still, to this moment, I found it funny how easily a thick chick with a body could distract a nigga. It was like taking candy from a baby when I first sent my sister to bug all the houses. Those niggas were tripping over they Jâs trying to push up on my baby sis.
Suddenly, movement on the screen caught my attention, and I paused the video before rewinding. Reaching the part I was interested in, I pressed play and paid close attention to the image in front of me. Anger coursed through my veins as I watched a nigga Iâd known for years steal from me with no remorse. Scrap had been my dawg since the sandbox and when he asked me to put him on, I did with no hesitation. So, to witness him taking money from the cut and hiding it in the leg of his big ass Girbaud jeans had me seeing red. That get back was a muthafucka, though!
Cutting that clip of the video, I emailed it to Sigma and typed a caption for my email. It simply said âTimeâs Upâ and I knew he would know exactly what to do afterwards. Seething, I closed out of my email and made my way downstairs to my man cave. Walking over to the bar I had set up, I poured myself a drink and allowed the potent liquor to burn the back of my throat.
